“Busy season” is a hectic time for accounting firms like JamisonMoneyFarmer, but it is a time of opportunity for accounting students. Each year, UA students intern for firms in the Southeast and nationwide. From the beginning of January to mid-March, interns assist with real clients and projects and, in turn, gain valuable work experience.

One of JamisonMoneyFarmer’s interns is Katie Eagan. She interned at JMF PC last spring, and she is back working part time this season. She will be graduating with a master of accountancy in May.

“I’m still technically an intern, but I’ll be a staff accountant in the fall,” Eagan said to The Crimson White.

Katie told The Crimson White the internship experience was a positive one, and that it gave her a glimpse of what the profession is really like.

“It was especially good to see the real world side of accounting because everything we do in school is very technical-based and more in the details,” Eagan said to The Crimson White. “In the professional world it’s more of a big picture type experience.”
