Many clients wonder just how long it takes to get their refund back from the IRS.

You can always check on the status of your refund at the Where’s My Refund? at the IRS site.  Where’s My Refund? will usually have information about your refund 72 hours after IRS acknowledges receipt of your e-filed return, or three to four weeks after mailing a paper return. Check back weekly, on Wednesdays, for any updates to your refund information.

If you are looking for the time frame you should expect your refund and you e-filed, check out the Refund Cycle Chart.  The chart is based on when your return was accepted by the IRS, the projected date your refund will be direct deposited or mailed is shown on the chart. This date is based on normal processing and assumes your return does not require further review.

And if you have already filed your taxes on January 17th, you are truly one of the first people to have filed.  Congrats!
