The Alabama Department of Labor (formerly the Department of Industrial Relations) posted the following to their website:

Effective immediately, Alabama Department of Labor will begin assessing a $25 penalty for each newly hired or rehired employee that is not reported to the New Hire Directory. A newly hired employee is an employee who: 1.) has not previously been employed by the employer or 2.) was previously employed by the employer, but has been separated from such employment for at least 60 consecutive days. New hires and rehires should be reported to the directory within seven days from the date of hire or reemployment. Visit labor.alabama.gov/nh for more information and to report to the New Hire Directory.

When you hire a new employee you must report that hiring on the DOL site.  It doesn’t matter if they are a student, summer hire or temporary worker.  This is in addition to E-Verify and all other reporting.  Alabama, as well as most other states, use the New Hire Program to help track and enforce child support payments.

If you need assistance with signing up to file your new hire reports please contact the Client Service Department at JamisonMoneyFarmer PC.
