We have just learned that some balance due notices have been issued by the Alabama Department of Revenue (ADOR) due to an error in their processing system. If your Alabama privilege tax return & payment were due March 15, and you sent your payment on or around that deadline, it is possible you will receive a balance due notice from the Alabama Department of Revenue.

We have been in contact with ADOR, and they have confirmed that they had a payment processing error with payments received on or around the week of March 15. Taxpayers should still receive credit for their original mail date on these payments. ADOR expects to have the issue resolved within the next 2-3 weeks.

If you made your payment timely, do not be alarmed by these notices. We are hoping they will send adjustment notices once the error is resolved.
