If you have any storm damaged timber, you may want to check into whether funds are available through the Emergency Forest Restoration Program.  You should check with our local USDA Farm Service Agency regarding sign-up periods which may vary by county.

USDA FSA Offices:

Tuscaloosa and Pickens County –  205-553-1733

Hale County – 334-624-3856

Greene and Sumter County – 205-372-3271

Jefferson, Walker and Blount County – 205-274-2363

Marengo and Choctaw County – 334-295-8724

USDA Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) Emergency Forest Restoration Program (EFRP) provides payments to eligible owners of nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) land in order to carry out emergency measures to restore land damaged by a natural disaster. Funding for EFRP is appropriated by Congress.  You will need to check with each County to determine if they have funds.  We have heard that Tuscaloosa County received funding.

EFRP program participants may receive financial assistance of up to 75 percent of the cost to implement approved emergency forest restoration practices as determined by county FSA committees. There may be some income limitations but we do not know at this time.
